2016-2017 South SUDAN TALENT YOUTH AWARDS
THEME: FUTURE UNDER CONSTRUCTION-SOUTH SUDANESE YOUTH AT WORK IN UGANDA According to present global statistics, the population of the entire world is largely embodied by the youth between the ages of 12-30 years. Out of every 10 people in the world today, 7 are young people between ages of 12-30 years. It has also been further discovered that Africa has the greatest population of youthful people and as a result the 21st century belongs to the continent of Africa. This forerunning of the whole continent indicates that the continent and world youngest Nation-South Sudan is part and parcel of this landmark and has also been seen with a greater number of populations of youthful people according to 2008 population census at which out of every 10 people; 6 are young people. What that means is that at the forefront of nation shaping are Youth. And among the many industry based elements that responsible for formulating national trends is the element of talent by those at the forefront of shaping the state. In otherwards, if South Sudan is going to be a major continental or global player then the talents of its youth population which is the largest have got be given a priority and an opportunity to shine and thrive. By building on the aforementioned back drop of truth, the South Sudan Talent Youth Award as a nonprofit, nonpartisan and nonpolitical entertainment based project set up in 2015 by volunteering south Sudanese students in Uganda to identify, cultivate, promote, expose and to reward previously unearthed talents among the young people of south Sudan whose sole responsibility is to help shape and set national trends. Young people in south Sudan have got a high sense of innovation, creativity and awareness which helps them to express themselves through various talents based activities. Many young South Sudanese are talented in music, dance, drama, poetry, speech, sport and in many other tale nt based acti viti es. However , most of these tale nts go unnoticed, unrewar ded, and unappreciated because there is no platform to provide spaces where young people can express their talents. Henceforth, the South Sudan Talent Youth Award has come forth to notice, recognize, appreciate, and celebrate talents that have previously gone without celebration. And by doing so the South Sudan talent Youth Award believes that it will be going a long way in boosting, promoting, expanding, and enlarging the talent industry of south Sudanese in Uganda, Kenya, South Sudan, consequently the entire diasporas
